Any discussion on the topic of wine—taste, production, grapes, varietals—usually brings out passionate opinions and intense debate. One of the great discussions currently taking place is Old World versus New World. Originally, the differentiation was a matter of simple geography: European vineyard heartlands versus pretty much everywhere else including the U.S., South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile. The discussion has now turned to style as Old World is used to describe wines lower in alcohol, higher in acidity, aged for longer periods and more subtle in flavors and qualities. It is often code for tradition and sophisticated taste while New World is associated with consumer-friendly varietals that are bigger on fruit and oak, with bolder flavors and qualities. This panel of winemakers who are making wines using old world methods will sort out the differences and help you to choose a good wine from the restaurant wine list and find the style you want at your local wine shop. You will be able to ask questions both during the program and after during the wine tasting. Don’t miss this event that is always one of the Club’s most fun and popular evenings.

Can't wait to see you there!
