Whether it’s the presidential race, statewide issues, or local contests, every day brings a glut of purportedly new information from speeches, polls, rumors, and interviews. It’s difficult to know who and what to believe. Politics has become more about marketing, sound bites, and packaging than substance and issues. The challenge to fill the 24/7 news cycle has transformed routine campaign messaging into breaking news and rumors gain currency before candidates can respond or journalists can investigate.

And now, the Internet is having a greater influence in the US presidential campaigns than ever before. Online journalism has assumed a prominence and a watchdog role that few could have anticipated. While more information is available from more sources, how can you evaluate the “news” and figure out who to trust? As the election fast approaches, this knowledgeable and outspoken panel of experts will discuss and debate how to cut through the spin and get the facts.
