The Migration of 3D From High End to Mainstream Today, the 3D Graphics market is exploding onto the desktop. Previously 3D graphics rendition was reserved for high-caliber PCs and Macs for CAD/CAM, animation and modeling purposes. With component and PC prices drastically falling, 3D card manufacturers have brought high-end graphic processing capabilities onto the everyday desktop. This radical shift has opened the doors for exciting multimedia-rich software applications that not only enhance productivity but shine in the overall PC graphics arena. Now, applications designers enable everyday users to create ultra-vivid and lifelike applications capable of running on today’s Pentium and Macintosh systems. In fact, these graphics are becoming so easy to use, that full 3D graphics can now be incorporated into presentations and documentation as well as other applications that were previously considered impractical and impossible. This program will highlight the state of the gaming graphics industry as well as define the future of 3D graphics and animation capabilities.
